The Mauritius Brandbook produced by the Ministry of Tourism provides some clear reasons why the international business community should consider the Mauritian option seriously for investment. Despite being seemingly far from markets, Mauritius offers many more advantages that one would think of. One of them is the Socio-political stability which is vital for the development of the economy. A robust and diversified economy helps to sustain economic growth coupled with a highly qualified workforce which is also bilingual.

The Double taxation agreements with India and many other countries as well as the access to African markets such as COMESA and SADC provide Mauritius with an interesting competitive edge for those willing to invest there. Mauritius can thus act as a platform for investment in other countries such as with the EU, through the Cotonou agreement; with the US under the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act; with Eastern and Southern Africa, through the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) and SADC (Southern African Development Community).

The country has adopted international best business practices and sustainable development policies  which have been acknowledged by international agencies such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCED), the Financial Action Task Force (FAFT) and the World Bank (WB).
