How to assess a restaurant ?

There are many reasons why people go to or choose a restaurant (romantic, family, friends, the atmosphere, convenience, price, quality of food, hectic week, etc etc) and how people finally say this one is good or not is in the end a question of taste and experience and expectations.

It often happens that while being at the same table and enjoying the same food, two persons may have diverging opinions on the food being served. But how to really assess the restaurant.

Some are very price conscious and want value for money. The focus is that if you are going to pay, your stomach should be satisfactorily full otherwise what’s the point of going to the restaurant?

Another view is the ambiance and socialization process that can take place when you are with friends. If the atmosphere is such that it is conducive to a nice moment among friends the quality or quantity of the food will not matter. What matters is the music being played and the setting.

Another aspect that comes to mind when deciding to which restaurant to go is the quality of the service. By quality of the service is meant the professionalism displayed by the staff be it when serving or when processing the payment. Politeness is generally much appreciated and quick service is even more appreciated. Some restaurants often forget this aspect leading to dissatisfied customers who will never come back.

Reasonable prices is also much appreciated. The price should reflect the quality of the meals on offer as well as the quality of the service itself.

Some gourmet go to gastronomic restaurants simply for the quality of the food and the exceptional service provided and the very specific atmosphere.
